The U.S. is facing a severe shortage of veterinarians. There are roughly 135,000,000 companion pets in America, and less than 60,000 veterinarians to keep them healthy. Of the 60,000 veterinarians, only 2% are African American. There are many challenges to becoming a veterinarian and one of them is financial. Proceeds from sales of Dr. Rosie Helps the Animals will be directed toward the Dr. Jodie G. Blackwell Scholarship Fund, which provides scholarships to African American veterinary students.
